Symptom

The following message is generated during Publishing or Preview. (Note that during preview, only the Comment below is shown in the Details window.

Status Task Name Type Path Comment Ref. #
Warning Player and LMS / Postprocessing document /PlayerPackage/PrintItOutput/XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX/TTT.docx Word document saving failed. Verify that the document or template is not currently open in Word. 0

Where TTT is the document type.

During Preview

Root cause

You are previewing an output document type, and either the document that you are trying to create or the template that is used to generate it (e.g., the .docm file in the Publishing Package) is already open in the relevant application (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or Acrobat). Most likely this is because you previewed a document, then tried to re-preview without closing the document generated the first time.

Resolution

Close the document or template and try again. You may have to completely shut down Word.

During Publishing

Root Cause

You are either publishing an output document type or (more often) publishing a Player that includes the use of Print It! mode. UPK is trying to generate the next Word document before the previous one has finishe being generated.

Resolution

This is only a Warning message, and UPK seems to re-try, as the document is eventually generated. Oracle suggest that installing the latest version of Microsoft Office, and installing Service Pack 2 for UPK 11 resolves this issue.

Related Information

Note that even if you choose to publish the 'document' to HTML or PDF and not Word, UPK will first create the document in Word, and then convert it, so you will still get this meessage.
