Including or excluding screenshots in printed output
The System Process document, Instructor Manual, and Training Guide document types include screenshots. However, UPK will typically not include every screenshot from the Topic. Instead, it selects which of the Topic's screenshots to include based on a change of Context. That is, if the context for a Frame is the same as the context for the preceding Frame (effectively, it is a screenshot of the same screen), then UPK will - by default - not include the screenshot of the second screen. If the context is different, it will include the screenshot. This approach generally works well, as it ensures that the document does not contain 20 screenshots of almost the same thing, when the simulation involves completing 20 fields on the same input screen.
Whether UPK has decided to include or exclude a screen can be seen by the buttons on the right of the Topic Editing Toolbar, as follows:
UPK will include the screenshot in the printed output
UPK will exclude the screenshot from the printed output
Overriding UPK's decision
However, there are situations where you want to override UPK's default inclusion/exclusion. For example:
- If all of your simulations start from the same screen, you may want to omit this screen from all simulations.
- For input screens, you may want to include an example of the screen once all fields have been completed
To override UPK's settings (to either include or exclude), use the buttons on the right of the Topic Editing Toolbar, as follows:
Include the screenshot in the printed output
Exclude the screenshot from the printed output
